Flying with a Graupner/SJ HoTT on the aeroflyRC
For all Graupner/SJ HoTT RC radios we recommend a HoTT receiver and the IKARUS interface #3031020, taking advantage of the wireless flying on aeroflyRC
Flying wireless with one of your own HoTT receiver
Using a patch cable you can connect one of your own Graupner/SJ-HoTT receivers to the IKARUS USB interface set #3031020 via the PPM sum signal (called “Sum-0” by Grauner). Suitable receivers are Gr-12, Gr-16, GR-18, Gr-24 and Gr-32. You can check your receiver by switching the “CH OUT TYPE” to “SUMO” at in the telemetry menu of your Graupner transmitter. If this is not possible, we also offer a ready programmed GR-12 receiver. The advantages of this solution are:
- You can use up to 12 channels for many special functions.
- The receiver is powered via the USB interface.
- The set includes the USB interface and the needed patch cable
Basic settings on the Graupner/SJ HoTT radio
Your HoTT radio offers many options for programming a RC model. In order to fly with the aeroflyRC a model memory only with few basic settings is recommended. You only need these settings to start with aeroflyRC.
- Bind the receiver to the sender.
- Open the Spektrum menu and create a new model memory.
- Assign a name such as “aeroflyRC”.
- Select as model type a simple powered model, even if you want to fly gliders or helicopters on the aeroflyRC. Leave any selection for Delta and V-tail mixers “off”.
- If you want to control more functions such as landing gear and flaps via the radio, you can also setup additional channels. The assignment to the functions will be done later in the aeroflyRC.
With this basic setting you can now continue with the calibration in aeroflyRC. Launch the aeroflyRC and click in the main menu under “Controller” on “Search for a new controller”. Afterwards you should get the interface and the detected channel number reported and follow the further instructions for calibration. If you have any issues, please follow this interface test. You will then find all details on the professional setting menu in the aeroflyRC manuals.
Programming the HoTT sum signal
Specially for HoTT receicver with an PPM sumsignal output channel we offer the USB-Interfaceset #3031020. Please connect the sumsignal output at the receiver and the IKARUS USB Interface with the patchcable (Orange cable to the middle) Please note that the output signal must necessarily be set to “SUM-O”. TELEMETRY → SET, SHOW → RX SERVOTEST → CH OUT TYPE to SUM-O This setting is to be made by the transmitters menue. Details can be found at Graupners manuals. Important: Flying by this way you`ll need a receiver with analog sum signal (GR-12) or GR-16 (where you set up an analog signal). The receivers GR-12L or e.g. GR-12S have no analog sum signal and can not be used.
