FAQ: Interfaces on the aeroflyRC

On this page you will find all important information about interfaces on the aeroflyRC.

First of all, all IKARUS interfaces are fully compatible with Windows 10/11 and all current macOS versions.

If your device is not recognized, please first follow this systematic troubleshooting test.

General Information

For all third-party devices, all USB input devices or USB interfaces are not read directly by the aeroflyRC, but always by the operating system in the first step. IKARUS therefore cannot verify or support faulty connections to third-party interfaces or their compatibility with your operating system.

If you want to connect an IKARUS interface to an RC transmitter, you can find all the information on the connection and transmitter settings for a HoTT, Jeti, Spektrum, Futaba, Frsky, or Powerbox Core on the website .

For all other RC transmitters, such as MPX or Radiomaster, we recommend option #5 from this page.
You fly wirelessly using an RC receiver that you can bind to the transmitter.

Transmitter Preparation

When using an RC transmitter, we always recommend using a new, free memory location with these presets:

  • A simple wing program with one output channel each for aileron, elevator, stabilizer, throttle, and landing flaps.
  • Please check, for example, using the servo monitor that all functions are output as a single channel at +/-100% and that the servo center is at 0%.
  • If you want to use a control switch, e.g., for the landing gear, set everything in advance in the transmitter. Here, too, a single channel with +/-100% must be visible in the servo monitor.

The simple rule applies: The aeroflyRC can only learn what a transmitter outputs on individual channels during calibration.

Once you have prepared the transmitter in this way, you can perform the calibration according to Chapter 6 in the manual.

Dual/Rate and Expo

Please note when using an RC transmitter as a control device in aeroflyRC that DualRate or Expo settings in the used model memory are always applied to all models in the simulator that you fly with this model memory location in the transmitter.
If you want to change Dual/Rate or Expo for only one model, please change these values in the simulator according to Chapter 13 of the manual. These changes are saved model-specifically there.

Individual Model Setup

If you want to use a model in aeroflyRC, for example, with a 4-flap wing, butterfly, mixer, flight phases, and all the settings available in the transmitter, we recommend using a separate model memory in the transmitter for this simulator setup. You can find out how to set up landing flaps or 4-flap wing in the section Expert Tips.
